A Little Love for Hurricane and Sea Serpent: The Other Roller Coasters Not Named ArieForce One that are Also Closing at Fun Spot Atlanta

Fun Spot America Atlanta is closing August 2, 2026 with ArieForce One and its future are getting the most attention. This is well deserved as ArieForce One is a World-Class ride, but it’s not the only roller coaster closing next month. Fun Spot Atlanta actually has 3 roller coasters along with a bunch of great flat rides and go-karts. The two other coasters are a kiddie coaster named Sea Serpent and a family coaster named Hurricane. Neither of these coasters is as unique as ArieForce One, but they do each have a story and are deserving of some recognition as well and perhaps a ride on your last visit to Fun Spot Atlanta.

Sea Serpent is an E&F Miller children’s coaster. It was installed at Fun Spot Atlanta in 2019 and features two laps of gentle turns, small hills, and a classic chain-lift. It really is the perfect introductory coaster for kids. It previously operated as “Python Pit” at the now defunct Heritage Amusement Park in Golden, Colorado. Before that it operated at two different Jeepers, a former indoor amusement park chain, with stops in Buffalo, New York and Concord, North Carolina. This is a well traveled little roller coaster that’s likely to see its fifth location as both Fun Spot Orlando and Fun Spot Kissimmee already have a Sea Serpent.

Hurricane is a more major coaster than Sea Serpent. Coincidentally it is also made by E&F Miller and it is their Hi-miler 38ft coaster model. The “38ft” is for 38 feet and for comparison Fun Spot Kissimmee operates the Hi-miler 52ft or 52 foot version. Hurricane is a family-friendly coaster featuring a 38-foot lift hill and a 900-foot-long triple out-and-back track. Hurricane may not give a silky smooth ride, but it packs a lot of punch for its size with tight turns and fast little drops. It is a great stepping stone after kids have conquered the Sea Serpent, reaching speeds of 35 mph and delivering surprising laterals and airtime pops for its smaller size.

Hurricane was a relocation from Wild Island in Sparks, Nevada where it operated as Wildcat until 2006. It opened at Fun Spot Atlanta (known as Dixieland Fun Park at that time) in 2007 and was first known as Scream’n Eagle until it was renamed Hurricane in 2022. As mentioned before, Fun Spot Kissimmee already has a Hurricane coaster, but Fun Spot Orlando does not, so there’s a chance it ends up there. In a fun bit of trivia, Hurricane at Fun Spot Kissimmee used to operate as Viking Voyage at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia.

Nothing is really known as to what will happen to Sea Serpent or Hurricane. There’s a chance a chance Hurricane could move to Orlando or both rides could just end up on a used rides website or used for parts for Fun Spot’s rides of the same models in Florida. I’m always happy when a ride is saved and moves to a new location like most recently Kombo moving from the Indianapolis Zoo to Lake Winnie. When a ride gets scrapped it’s so sad as every ride was someone’s “first” or carries other memories. When Scorpion at Busch Gardens was demolished my son was pretty upset as it was his first “big” coaster and his first “upside-down” coaster. On our last visit to Fun Spot Atlanta, Hurricane was the first “big” coaster for one little girl in our party who just made the 42″ height requirement by a whisker. I wish all roller coasters could all be saved to continue to give joy, but sometimes economics don’t allow this and we’re only left with the memories. If you haven’t already, you should definitely head to Fun Spot Atlanta to ride ArieForce One, but when you’re there, maybe give Hurricane and Sea Serpent a ride too.
