Six Flags Bets Big on Events with 448 Halloween-Themed Experiences Across its Properties this Year

Six Flags has announced that 2026 will feature its largest-ever lineup of horror franchises and immersive haunted attractions. This will be a mix of globally recognized horror franchises, blockbuster entertainment brands and immersive original experiences. Anchored by 29 new and returning licensed haunted attractions, the expanded portfolio also includes 196 themed scare zones and live entertainment plus nighttime ride experiences that will transform parks across North America after dark. Coast to coast, Six Flags parks will offer a total of 448 Halloween-themed experiences making it North America’s biggest Halloween party.  At Six Flags this event has normally been known as Fright Fest, but this year will still see the continued use of some of the traditional Cedar Fair names like SCarowinds and Knott’s Scary Farm.

The 2026 season will see the return of classic houses and some new additions including Diablo®, Jason Universe™Final Destination™ and The Blair Witch Project®, joining returning fan-favorites from The Conjuring Universe™SAW®Army of the Dead®, The Strangers: Chapters 1 & 2 and Trick ‘r Treat™. These houses are usually the most looked forward to elements of the Halloween season at theme parks, but the scare zones and general atmosphere make this one of the favorite times to visit for many guests.

Before the scares begin each evening, families can enjoy a full lineup of 141 daytime seasonal events and activities designed for guests of all ages. Across participating parks, families will find kid-friendly Halloween experiences featuring trick-or-treat opportunities, pumpkin-themed activities, interactive entertainment and festive fall traditions. The atmosphere remains playful and family-focused throughout the day before transforming into a world of thrills and chills after sunset. This is a great mix in that it can be more families during the day and more teens and adults at night, There is also great food and beer to be had with the Oktoberfest celebration.

Halloween is an increasingly important season for theme parks where they do tremendous business. It’s not just the general traffic, but also all the upcharge houses and events. The weather, especially in the south, can also be much more pleasant in September and October than in the heart of summer. Six Flags is betting big and likely spending millions to make all this happen. The cost of 448 Halloween attractions may approach the cost of a new ride, but instead of benefiting one park, the whole chain benefits.
