Six Flags Over Georgia is revamping parts of its dining for the 2025 season and has hired the park’s first-ever executive chef, Priscilla Hamilton. The first three restaurants to be redone are DeeJay’s Diner, Firehouse BBQ (formerly Daddy O’s BBQ) and Primo’s Pizzeria. These restaurants are introducing a new service style, prioritizing efficiency, quality, and the freshest ingredients for an elevated dining experience. The park is also updating and enhancing the interiors and exteriors with immersive and themed décor.  During our experience on the 4th of July at Firehouse BBQ these upgrades were very obvious and our meal was simply delicious.

Celebrating Dollywood’s 40th Anniversary with Eyes Toward Massive $50 Million Investment for 2026

The 2025 season and Dollywood’s 40th anniversary are underway. For 2025 there’s no big new ride or attraction, but instead we’re getting a new restaurant, a bunch of refreshes/refurbishments and improvements to the guest experience. The park is already looking forward to 2026 with a reported $50 million expansion, the largest in the park’s history, and a major new attraction. An announcement this year teased a “Take Flight” theme with rumors of an indoor suspended roller coaster or flying theater coming to the back of Wildwood Grove. However, the additions for 2025 still represent millions of dollars in significant improvements that will make the park more enjoyable for years to come and help put the “theme” in theme park.

Wild Adventures opened its new season on Saturday, March 15th, with the debut of the new Water’s Edge expansion. Water’s Edge is home to three-family friendly rides, new animal habitats, a new stage and more. Water’s Edge is located along the park’s internal lake and offers stunning views in a tropical fun environment meant to mimic the vibe of a seaside village. This isn’t an expansion in the literal sense, but actually a refurbishment and transformation of the core of the park into a cohesive themed area. Water’s Edge makes better use of the 3 acres along the lake to provide more space for relaxation and fun. With new seating, spectacular views and fun new rides, it really hits the mark in transforming what was largely a “pass through” area into the beating heart of the park.

Play Mini Golf at Another Level with Treetop Adventure Golf in Birmingham, UK

On a recent business trip the the United Kingdom I got a chance to play indoor mini golf at the recommendation of my local hosts. The UK is known for having some cold and rainy winters making indoor family entertainment centers quite popular. I’ve played indoor mini golf several times before in the United States, but I wasn’t quite prepared for the next level experience I had at Treetop Adventure Golf in Birmingham. It’s tag line is “Min-golf, big adventure” and this is definitely true as this is more than mini golf, it’s adventure golf.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg Gets in on the $5 Meal Deal Trend!

Consumers are feeling the pinch of higher restaurant prices and chains like McDonald’s and Burger King have responded with $5 meal deals. In a move that was quite surprising, you can now get a complete meal at a theme park for just $5! Through August 14, 2024 you can get a hot dog, chips and a drink for just $5 at Grogan’s Grill from 11am – 7pm. According to @TrillGeek you can also add a second hot dog for just $2.50 if you’re feeling a bit more hungry. $5 is what you’d pay for the drink alone in many places, so this is a great deal. Thanks Busch Gardens for this awesome promotion!

Review of an Afternoon at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Amusement Park

Arial view of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

On a recent business trip to California I had a free afternoon and decided to check out the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. This seaside park opened in 1907 and is California’s oldest surviving park. Walking down certain parts of the boardwalk feels a bit like a trip in a time machine, but most of the rides are now modern with one huge exception, the Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster. The Giant Dipper is the signature attraction of the park dominating the skyline and it was the main reason for my visit.

Review of the VIP Diamond Pass Lounge at Six Flags Over Georgia

April 2025 Update: The Diamond Pass has now become the Prestige Pass in 2025 with the Cedar Fair merger.

This is my first year being a Diamond pass holder at Six Flags and therefore my first time having access to the VIP Lounge. I have to say this is an extremely nice benefit! The lounge is a great air conditioned space with comfortable seating, free soda and a wide assortment of snacks. At Six Flags Over Georgia the lounge is also centrally located just past the Marthasville Train Station near Acrophobia and in front of the great new Along the Rails Tavern. At the entrance they simply scan your physical or electronic membership card and you’re in.
