Several theme parks now have exclusive beers, with many of them found at Universal or Disney parks. Animal Kingdom is the surprising home of many of Disney’s exclusive beers. You’ll find one of the most iconic in the Pandora area with the green Hawkes’ Grog Ale. This distinctly green-colored American Pale Wheat Ale brewed exclusively for Disney by Terrapin Beer Company of Athens, Georgia. It’s said to be quite refreshing with flavors of apricot, peach, and citrus. You’ll also find Mo’ara High Country Ale in Pandora, a spicy hop amber ale. Safari Amber is another exclusive beer found at Animal Kingdom. It is an American amber/red lager brewed by Anheuser-Busch exclusively for the Walt Disney World Resort and I saw it on the menu at the Sanaa restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Finally, you’ll find Gold Squadron Lager at Oga’s Cantina at Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Universal also has its fair share of exclusive beers, especially in the Harry Potter areas and at the new Epic Universe. In The Wizarding World of Harry Potter alone you’ll find Hog’s Head Brew (a malty, sweet Scottish Export Ale), Dragon Scale (an amber lager), Wizard’s Brew (a dark, sweet stout) and Au Currant Saison (a fruity, tart blackcurrant farmhouse saison). At Epic Universe you can get Stoic’s Ale (a wildflower and honey white ale) at the Spitfire Grill in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk or a Reaper’s Reserve (a dark farmhouse-style ale brewed by Crooked Can Brewing Company) in Dark Universe. Universal Studios probably had one of the earliest theme park exclusive beers with Duff beer in the Simpson’s area. You can now get Duff, Duff Lite, Duff Dry and Duff Happy Sour. Of course the king of all exclusive beers at Universal is probably non-alcoholic butterbeer!

Other park chains will occasionally have beers as well. One of the most well known is Carowinds (owned by Six Flags) and its Copperhead Strike IPA and Fury 325 IPA named after the roller coasters of the same names. Six Flags Over Texas has also launched Tormenta Light along with the opening of the new Giga Dive coaster. ElToroRyan showed coolers full of the beer in his Tormenta media day video.

Many other parks serve numerous local craft options, even if they are not exclusive. Several parks have built specialty bars like Along the Rails Tavern at Six Flags Over Georgia to the Giraffe Bar at Busch Gardens Tampa. As a really great promotion, if you head to Busch Gardens or SeaWorld you’ll even find free beer during select times of the year!

It’s easier than ever for a park to get an exclusive beer. With so many breweries out there it’s easy to contract for your own brew. The park just has to be sure it can sell enough volume to make it worthwhile. Craft beer people and theme park people seem to trend together, so it may be tempting for some to get the beer they know they can’t get anywhere else. If you’re at a theme park scan the beer list as there may be something exclusive you should try!
