LEGOLAND Florida is a Great Place to Celebrate America 250 and Surprisingly LEGOLAND Billind is too!

It’s America’s 250th birthday and it’s been a year long celebration. If you want to get in a patriotic mood, LEGOLAND Florida is a great place to go. You’ll get to see some of the nation’s iconic structures all created as LEGO brick builds. From the Statue of Liberty to the National Mall to an American Eagle, they’re all represented in LEGO. However, what’s perhaps even more surprising is that if you head over to LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark you’ll also see a tremendous amount of Americana!

One of the biggest areas to celebrate America at LEGOLAND Florida is MINILAND. Here you’ll see a reconstruction of the National Mall including the United States Capitol building, White House and other National Monuments. There are also recreations of other cities in the USA like Las Vegas, Miami, San Francisco and more. You’ll also find a NASA section with a launching space shuttle and the Daytona International Speedway!

You’ll find great patriotic displays in other places too. In the Imagination Zone you’ll find an astronaut with a LEGO American flag. The mosaic of the lunar lander is stunning and really completes this LEGO moon landing depiction.

Americana isn’t just limited to LEGOLAND Florida though or even the USA. We were quite shocked while visiting LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark that they had recreated several American landmarks. These included a spectacular LEGO recreation of Mount Rushmore as well as a highly detailed United States Capitol building. Most of these were located on the Mini Boat ride and there were creations of other countries as well like London’s Tower Bridge and the Taj Mahal, but the United States section was quite large.

There was one other very “American” feeling section of the Billund park called LEGOREDO Town. It is “Wild West” themed and contained the Flying Eagle roller coaster. The train looked just like an American Eagle that would be at home at any park in the USA. Neighboring it was a ride called LEGO Canoe which is a boat ride through what feels like the Western Frontier. In LEGOREDO Town you can also pan for gold, ride horses (on a carousel) or get some BBQ ribs, so any American will feel quite at home here.

Happy 4th of July, Independence Day and America 250! Even though LEGO was invented in Denmark, they still feel embedded into American culture. A country is built one piece at a time, just like a LEGO set. May LEGO be a reminder that with effort and creativity we can create amazing things!
