Many people love watching fireworks on the 4th of July. This year is special in that it’s America’s 250th Birthday. Many cities have fireworks displays, but theme parks also offer a great alternative to watch a great show. Theme parks also have the advantage of allowing you to arrive early, have fun while you wait and simply look up when it’s time for the show. My family has really enjoyed the convenience of this and spent several of the last 4th of July holidays at various theme parks.
Of course theme parks offer fireworks on many other days in addition to the 4th of July. Some parks like Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World will have fireworks nightly. Others will have them during summer or on weekends. Fireworks can be especially beautiful in a theme park they way they can be framed by the buildings (like a castle) or rides like a roller coaster. I personally love the fireworks at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia and the way they reflect off the water over the top of Boomerang.

You can also catch a drone show as either an alternative to fireworks or incorporated together with them. This can be environmentally friendly, reduce noise for the sensitive people/pets and help mitigate fire risk. Some of the new drone shows also incorporate fire into the drone itself to create a beautiful controlled combination. I saw a great demonstration of this at IAAPA 2025.

Fireworks seem to go together with theme parks. Walt Disney referred to them as the “kiss goodnight” at his parks. Put together with music and other effects they can tell a story and stir emotion. On the 4th of July we celebrate our freedom and a theme park is a great place to do it. Enjoy your 4th of July and America 250 celebrations!
