Six Flags America in Maryland closed forever on November 2, 2025. There was much talk about which, if any, rides would be relocated to other Six Flags parks. The trains from Professor Screamore’s SkyWinder (formerly Mind Eraser) were quickly shipped to Canada’s Wonderland to upgrade their Vekoma SLC, Flight Deck. Also, Some of the rides were briefly listed for sale and quickly removed, but there hasn’t been much information since. Now it appears that Ragin’ Cajun, one of the rides thought most likely to relocate, will be headed to Six Flags Great Adventure for its newly reimagined Shoreline Pier Boardwalk area. This wild mouse coaster has gotten a new paint job and will now be called Barrels O’ Fun.

Six Flags Great Adventure is actually the third stop in this coaster’s life, but the first time it will be given a new name. The coaster operated at Six Flags Great America (2004–2013) and then Six Flags America (2014–2025) as “Ragin’ Cajun”. In some ways this is almost reminiscent of the old Six Flags ride rotation program. Barrels O’ Fun is a spinning coaster features tight hairpin turns, small dips, and is part of a 5-ride addition designed to enhance the Jersey Shore-themed section. The new paint job more closely fits the new theme as opposed to the previous Mardi Gras New Orleans theme and probably will have new or refurbished train cars. Six Flags Great Adventures describes Barrels O’ Fun as, “A spinning family coaster with wooden barrel-inspired cars that dip and twist like bobbing buoys on the surf.”

It would also not be shocking if some of the other rides came from Six Flags America as all 4 flat rides announced for the Shoreline Pier Boardwalk also were at Six Flags America with 3 still operating in Maryland at the time of closure. These include a Zamperla Nebulaz, a Larson Flying Scooters, a Zamperla Flying Carousel and a Heintze Fahtze spinning ride. So we could very easily see Ragin’ Cajun become Barrels O’ Fun, the SteamWhirler become Hypno Twister, French Quarter Flyers become Flying Scooters, Flying Carousel become Wave Swinger and Riddle Me This become Super Roundup. These are not confirmed, as the park could source them new or elsewhere, but the resemblance between my pictures from Six Flags America and the concept art from Six Flags Great Adventure are uncanny. Getting them from a closed park in the chain would make a ton of financial sense assuming they’re in good shape.

It’s great to see a ride like this used again as opposed to being scrapped. Having ridden it in the final days at Six Flags America I can say that the spinning action is actually quite intense for a mouse coaster and Six Flags Great Adventure is getting quite a ride. It’ll be interesting to see if any of the other rides from Six Flags America pop up elsewhere. It was recently announced that the land the park sat on was sold to a group that includes NBA star Kevin Durant who grew up in the area. It appears they plan to redevelop the site and don’t plan to operate the theme park as a whole again, but they want to have some entertainment aspect, so there’s a chance that perhaps some of the attractions could see a second life. Hopefully Barrels O’ Fun will be “barrels of fun” for guest of Six Flags Great Adventure for years to come.
