Six Flags Darien Lake has an Awesome Old School Nighttime Show with its Laser Light Spectacular

Six Flags Darien Lake has a great nighttime show called Laser Light Spectacular. The show takes place on select nights from May 16 to September 6 and starts at 9:15pm on nights the park closes at 9pm. The show takes place in a grass amphitheater near the Boomerang coaster and is nearly 30 minutes long. It uses vibrant lasers, fireworks, fire, water, fog and music transform the night sky into an electrifying experience. This isn’t a formal review, but I walked away impressed as I can’t think of another Six Flags park with a nightly show like this.

The show has a great mix of subject matter. You’ll find everything including Top 10 hits, patriotic songs from the USA and Canada, odes to many of the park’s rides and moments dedicated to local Buffalo sports. The show is largely laser driven, but there are a lot of firework bursts blended in with precision timing that really add to the show. I especially enjoyed the portion where each of the park’s major coaster logos were displayed.

Laser light shows were all the rage about 30 years ago. It seems like things have more moved to drones and projection nowadays, so this had a vintage and nostalgic feel to it. I’d imagine using lasers and less fireworks helps keep the costs down and makes a nightly show possible like we saw on a slow Wednesday night in July. Some Six Flags will do fireworks on holidays or occasional weekends, but I’d love to see more parks take this approach. The music and lights had the kids and crowd dancing, especially when Taylor Swift came on! You can watch a clip of Taylor Swift “Fate of Ophelia” from the Laser Light Spectacular at Six Flags Darien Lake on YouTube.

The Laser Light Spectacular at Six Flags Darien Lake is a great show. As Walt Disney used to say, it’s the “kiss goodnight” after a long theme park day. A show like this can really elevate a theme park day from average to extraordinary. It would be great to see more Six Flags parks follow this model and have an inexpensive night show to end the day. We still have a few weeks left of the Darien Lake show, so if you’re at the park be sure to stay late and check it out.
