This past Sunday I finally got to ride Dive Bomber at Six Flags White Water and check the last remaining attraction I hadn’t ridden off my LogRide app. I use LogRide to track my roller coaster credits and everything else related to theme parks. It’s kind of addicting and if you’re prone to wanting “completion” like me you’ll sometimes ride stuff just to check it off. However, Dive Bomber was something I’ve wanted to ride for a couple years, it’s just been frequently closed.

Dive Bomber opened in 2015 and is 10 stories high (100 feet) with a near 90-degree drop and speeds approaching 40 miles-per-hour. It shares a tower with the Run-A-Way River family raft ride, but it is a level higher. Dive Bomber is a “trapdoor” waterslide built by ProSlide and won a Golden Ticket as the Best New Water Ride in 2015. This trapdoor flume wasn’t the first, they started around 2008, but it was one of the early ones. There are taller slides out there now like “The Fall” at Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin Dells at 145 feet, but Dive Bomber opened nearly a decade earlier.

As we were walking into White Water there was a sign about limited attractions being available. This made sense as even though it was Sunday, it was Father’s Day no doubt making staffing challenging. I feared the worst that it would be another trip with no Dive Bomber (I’ve heard staffing/capacity as well as maintenance for the frequent closures). However, upon entering the park I heard that iconic “trapdoor” sound and confirmed it was open! According to the app it has seemed open more often this year and maybe it was just a Father’s Day treat to us guys, but whatever it was I’ll take it. I went straight over and shockingly it was a short line that after the 10 story climb I was out of breath. Thankfully there were a few people ahead of me, so I did get to enjoy the great view for a few minutes. The first time you walk up to and step into that trapdoor capsule it can be quite intimidating! However, I found this to be one of the best and most enjoyable slides of this type I’ve ridden. It was pure speed and pure fun.

I love LogRide and it’s my preferred app for tracking coaster credits and all things theme park. It’s great that the app provides a bunch of information on attractions and not just a list to check. I also love the watch integration which is great for a water park where you don’t frequently carry your phone. I also love that it tracks fitness stats as you can get some steps in on a water park day!

I’m happy that I got to ride Dive Bomber and appreciate Six Flags White Water having it open. This is a great attraction that is probably near the pinnacle of the “thrill” genre for waterslides. Six Flags White Water is a beautiful and unique park, essentially a water park built in the woods. If you’re in the area be sure to check it and Dive Bomber out and use LogRide to track your experience!
