Six Flags Fiesta Texas has been doing an excellent job teasing its 2027 attraction through social media with a slow drip for months now. The park started by posting a phone number on a billboard for the “Crackaxel Canyon Community Cooperative” that had the cryptic message about an “out-of-this-world development zooming to you in 2027”. Crackaxle Canyon is the western-themed area at Six Flags Fiesta Texas home to Iron Rattler and the Steampunk Area Former Park president Jeffrey Siebert then posted pictures of cryptids including a giant worm and a werewolf in March in a tweet about the “worm ” moon (which is the traditional name for the full moon in March). Six Flags Fiesta Texas has announced an event called “FT92: Under the Blue Moon”at the Zaragoza Theatre on May 30, 2026, the day before the “blue” moon on May 31, 2026. Then recently a shipping crate has appeared in the area of the new ride with two red werewolf eyes peering out. Finally, we have an April trademark filing by Six Flags for the term “Werewolf Gorge”. All this seems to add up to say that a werewolf is coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas!

“One second! Thanks for calling the Crackaxle Canyon Community Cooperative. We’re helping you find what’s within. Sorry… Now we’ve got this out-of-this-world development zooming to you in 2027, and you’re definitely gonna want to slide on by.”

This isn’t Fiesta’s first step into the the cryptid or horror area. The park recently renamed its Goliath invert coaster to Chupacabra, legendary cryptid in Latin American and Southwestern U.S. folklore. Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, a dive coaster, also has a darker theme with an excellent immersive preshow. Then there’s Poltergeist, a high speed launch coaster, with great “haunted house” style theming in the queue. Therefore going supernatural and towards cryptids is actually quite on brand for Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

There isn’t much word yet on ride type other than some sort of coaster is expected. Rumors have mostly centered on something similar to the highly successful Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood. This is a great ride with fun launches that sprawls across the terrain at Dollywood, but still hits that family demographic with a low height requirement. There may be a twist with something other than a traditional coaster, perhaps motorcycle trains to match the zooming sounds heard in the phone message? Maybe some indoor/outdoor sections like Verbolten or even the 100% indoor straddle coaster, Darkoaster, at Busch Gardens Williamsburg? I guess we’ll find out in a week or so!

It’s been great to see Six Flags Fiesta Texas do an old school new ride tease here. Perhaps this could even be a case of what’s old is new again in that there was actually an indoor roller coaster named Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon located at Six Flags Great Escape that operated from 1999-2006, so there may be some IP to recycle there. Speaking of IP, the trademark type for “goods & services” is code for souvenirs and is similar to other ride trademarks that parks typically file for a new ride. So it appears Werewolf Gorge is coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, but there are many details yet to come. Looking forward to learning more on May 30, 2026!
