Popcorn buckets are a big deal at many theme parks. Many of the Disney ones are known to have lines that rival rides and often sell out. These popcorn buckets get exotic, taking the shape of characters, props or landmarks, often incorporating lights and sound. Dollywood now has an awesome looking collectible in its NightFlight Color-Changing Bioluminator Popcorn Bucket. The Bioluminator is a key part of the plot of the NightFlight Expedition ride and the popcorn bucket is a faithful recreation of it. You can get one at Dollywood for $29.99 and no doubt it will be a conversation piece wherever you display it.

So what is a Bioluminator? In the NightFlight story it is an invention created by twin scientists Cora and Jasper Oakley. The device detects and amplifies the natural bioluminescence in the Great Smoky Mountains. Your vehicle on the ride is equipped with a Bioluminator to trace the glowing roots of the Wildwood Tree and find the mystical Secret Lake. This will flash and light up during your ride. You’ll also see one setup in the queue line and be able to witness an experiment.

These popcorn buckets make a great souvenir and can easily be displayed at home. In many cases they can be refilled, but many collectors opt for a more generic bucket for actual popcorn use as to not get grease on or risk damaging the collectible one. However, if you did want to refill it you can for $7.99. This bucket looks fun and it’s great to see Dollywood venture into this fun space.
