Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Wild Adventures

Lowndes County Board of Commissioners proclamation of May 9th, 2026 as Wild Adventures Day

The Lowndes County Board of Commissioners declared May 9th, 2026, as Wild Adventures Day, a local holiday in honor of the park’s 30th Anniversary! This great event included a talks from the park’s Marketing & Sales Director, Adam Floyd, and the park’s General Manager, Donald Spiller. There was also a reading of a proclamation by the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners declaring the day Wild Adventures Day. Additionally guests had the opportunity to enjoy new and fan-favorite menu items including lemon pepper wings, churro bites and boba lemonade.

Wild Adventures actually started off in 1996 as Liberty Farms petting zoo. It was soon renamed Wild Adventures and in 1998 it began its transformation to a thrill park with the installation of Boomerang. In 1999 the park doubled down and installed Twisted Typhoon, its Vekoma SLC. The park’s famous concert series began early back in 1997 and now occupies an amphitheater capable of hosting over 12,000 guests. In 2007 the park was acquired by Herschend Family Entertainment (owners of Dollywood and Silver Dollar City). More recently the park added the highly rated Safari Campground in 2024 and the Water’s Edge lakefront area in 2025. The park still pays homage to its roots with the Liberty Farms petting zoo area which has signage about its history.

Wild Adventures also has a lot to celebrate in 2026. Just last month the park’s Paradise River was named America’s “Best Lazy River” according to readers of USA TODAY in the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Additionally the park has received massive media coverage about the unlikely friendship between a zebra and giraffe at the park. This has included stories on Good Morning America and in the New York Post. The park also hosted its first American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) event in over a decade on May 2, 2026 which drew roller coaster enthusiasts from across the country and world to ride the park’s coaster collection.

It was obvious at the media event that Lowndes County is fully supportive of Wild Adventures and its continued growth. This has taken the form of tangible items like several completed and planned road improvements to provide quicker access to the park. The park also made several improvements to attractions, dining and animal habitats for 2026 including the Safari Train, Boomerang, Island Falls and Alapaha Trail. These enhancements were with better guest experiences in mind to increase capacity or reliability of popular attractions. Coupled with the 2024 Safari Campground and last year’s Water’s Edge experience, these show strong continuing investment in the park. With the continued support of Lowndes County and Herschend Family Entertainment coupled with the hard work of the park’s hosts (employees), Wild Adventures has a bright future ahead for its next 30 years.
