Catapult Falls at SeaWorld San Antonio is an Intamin flume coaster which opened in 2024. The ride is themed around camping and national parks and is the world’s first launched flume ride. In addition to the launch, riders will experience North America’s only vertical flume lift, two airtime hills and two splashdowns. For hot summer days in Texas Catapult Falls could be a fun way to cool off.

Catapult Falls has an impressive entrance sign and the ride course occupies a space along the far end of Steel Eel. There are lockers at the entrance for items you’d prefer to keep dry. The queue line itself is pretty massive and gives good views of the ride to come. The ride and signage also looks especially good at night.

The ride itself is a ton of fun. It starts out at ground level as a pretty standard meandering log flume ride. You’ll see the camping theme in full effect with campsites and signs along the route. There water elements around you and it appears these can be adjusted to control how wet riders may get. The day we rode was a comfortable spring day, but definitely not hot and the geysers were switched off. You then hit the launch which is quite a rush and incredibly unique on a water ride. It will send you over an airtime hill and then into a mild splashdown.

Next you move onto the vertical lift which is a unique sensation as you are guided to the large hill above you. The drop itself is fun and near the perfect intensity at 55 feet and 53-degrees. On the drop you’ll first pass under a bridge and then over another airtime hill before splashing down a final time. You’ll be wet, but not soaked with those in front appearing to get more wet. Mark Rober did a great video recently showing where you sit on a log ride matters! A little more meandering and you’ll be back to the station.
Catapult Falls is a modern version of the traditional log flume ride. New technology like a launch and vertical lift make the ride style feel modern and refreshed. This ride is a great fit for Sea World San Antonio and no doubt will be popular on hot summer days.
