Does Mythos at Universal’s Islands of Adventure Live Up to the Hype? Yes! Our Review of a Spectacular Dinner

Mythos at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is the 10-time #1 Theme Park Restaurant in the World by Theme Park Insider. You’ll frequently find waits of an hour or more to get a table (reservations are also available). Mythos was even the inaugural inductee into the Theme Park Insider Awards Hall of Fame in 2022. So is it worthy of the hype? In a simple word, yes. However, the Lost Continent area of Islands of Adventure where it is both located and themed for is under a transformation. Universal has announced Mythos will close permanently in 2027 as part of the Lost Continent retheme. Therefore if you want to try it, the time is now. Here’s our review of a spectacular October 2026 dinner at Mythos.

Mythos offers a mix of Mediterranean, Asian and American fare, Mythos’ casually elegant menu includes options like Greek salad, pad Thai, sandwiches, burgers, and more. The views are spectacular with indoor and outdoor seating on the water where you can overlook the whole park watching Hulk and other rides launch. The interior decor is also unique and themed to the original Lost Continent.

For an appetizer we had the signature bread service and it was really the star of the night and set the tone for the rest of the meal. It has wood-fired lavash bread with 3 dipping sauces including red pepper hummus with smoked paprika and sumac oil, a Kalamata olive tapenade and warm baked feta with roasted tomato sauce. The baked feta with sauce was one of the most spectacular things I’ve had in a long time, it was perfection. Think of the best grilled cheese and tomato soup you can imagine and you’re basically there. The hummus and olives were fresh tasting and great too.

For dinner we ordered the 12 oz. Bone-In Pork Chop and the Beef Loin Medallions. Both these dishes were spectacular in flavor and presentation. The pork chop was flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked. The sides were great too and be aware you can swap sides from another dish, so I changed out the carrots on the pork chop for the brussel sprouts. My son ordered off the kids menu which has a handful of basic choices including penne with Parmesan cheese sauce, chicken fingers, a burger and pizza. Sides include fries, grapes and oranges. The kids portions were huge for only $13 and after our bread appetizer he had no chance of finishing it.

Mythos lives up to the hype. It offers great food with great service and great views. Depending on what you order the prices may not even be much more than a quick service option. This, however, is not fast food, so if you’re worried about getting on a ride or to a show later, it’s probably not a good day to try Mythos. Our dinner took about 75 minutes as everything appears made to order. Mythos won’t be with us much longer, so try out this theme park gem while you can!
