Fun Spot Atlanta closed back in August and the auction for the rides and other property at the park is underway. Dozens of items are for sale from coasters like Sea Serpent and Hurricane to Flat rides like Hook & Slice to arcade games to kitchen equipment. The online auction began on September 22nd and runs through October 14th. “Our Atlanta park made lifetime memories for a lot of families, and the equipment behind those memories has been well cared for,” said John Arie, Jr., Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Fun Spot America Theme Parks. The bidding is already strong on many items with interested buyers to include other amusement parks, family entertainment centers or even local fans.

This is the circle of life in the theme park and amusement park industry. In an Amusement Today article, John Arie, Jr., Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Fun Spot America Theme Parks said, “We would rather see it back in service somewhere than sitting idle. This auction is a chance for other operators and businesses to put quality equipment to work for their own guests.” It is a sincerely great perspective and one that Fun Spot practiced themselves having acquired several rides from other closed parks.

On the list you’ll find Hurricane, Sea Serpent, Hook & Slice, Riptide, Hot Seat, Scrambler and a bunch of kiddie rides, but missing is ArieForce One along with the Tilt-a Whirl, Screaming Eagles and Flog Hopper. This is because ArieForce One has already been sold to Six Flags and the other rides are on the move to Fun Spots other parks in Florida. Buyers can make an appointment to inspect or call/email with questions, although the item descriptions are pretty comprehensive including removal terms (if you’re gonna buy a ride for the backyard you might need more than a pickup truck to get it). Hopefully the auction goes well for Fun Spot with the rides bringing joy to new people in new locations and the money raised giving the Florida parks the ability to invest in new attractions.
