There is a roller coaster on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls that’s simply known to enthusiasts as “The Burger King Coaster”. Now that’s not its name, but it gets it from being situated on the roof on top of an operating Burger King. The ride is actually called the “Frank N’ Coaster” and it sits on top of the House of Frankenstein. The Burger King just happens to be the ground floor, but you can see with the theming of Frank clutching a burger that they’ve all decided to be good, mutually beneficial neighbors. Here’s a brief review and overview of the experience.

The House of Frankenstein is basically a walkthrough haunted house and you can combine a coaster ticket with it or do the coaster separately. If you do the coaster only you’ll bypass most of the scary stuff and just head to the roof up a couple of colorful blacklight lit stairwells. The coaster will cost you $15 CAD which is $10.64 USD today. For this you’ll get one ride which is two laps. The ride itself has some neat thematic elements with the Frankenstein statue and of course great views. The ride itself is also been resurrected by House of Frankenstein after operating at Sports Plus Entertainment Center in Lake Grove, NY as Thrill Coaster, before presumably sitting not operating for over a decade until reopening as Frank N’ Coaster in 2020.

The ride itself is pretty simple. It’s made by Wisdom Rides and is a chain lift hill of 25 feet and a course of 700 feet. Of course being on a roof makes the views much better than 25 feet! The turns really aren’t banked, so it can feel a bit jerky at the corners. I don’t know if I’d call the actual ride itself enjoyable, but as an overall experience it is. There’s a neighboring Ferris wheel that gives great views of the ride and of course Niagara Falls. The whole area is full of little shows, attractions and things to do to keep you entertained.

If you’re only going to Canada to ride the coaster the easiest way to do it is to park at Niagara Falls State Park on the US side for $10 and walk over Rainbow Bridges to Canada. It’s just a few blocks after you cross. Don’t forget you’ll pay a $1 toll to get back in the USA and need your passport. If you eat at the Burger King try the poutine, it’s a traditional Canadian dish of french fries with gravy and cheese curds. This is by no means the a great coaster, but it is in a great location with a great story. It’s sort of a right of passage to say you did it, so if you’re in the area check it out.
