If you’re walking near Pandemonium and Thunder River at Six Flags Over Georgia you may notice an interesting tribute along the walkway. It honors Ricky C. Robinson under a Six Flags logo and reads
In Memory of
Ricky C. Robinson
3/22/57 to 7/16/06
Your Spirit Lives On
This is a very nice tribute from the park and it had me wondering just who was Ricky C. Robinson? Upon searching I found the obituary and he was an electrician at Six Flags Over Georgia who passed away suddenly at only 49 years old:
Ricky Carroll Robinson, 49 of Johnson Road, Waco passed away suddenly July 16, 2006. Ricky was born on March 22, 1957 in Carroll County, Georgia the son of Roy J. Robinson and the late Mary Jim Downs Robinson. An electrician employed with Six Flags and Member of Kansas Baptist Church.
It’s obvious he must have made a large impact on the park and his fellow employees to have a monument erected in his honor. Next month will be the 20th anniversary of his death. With June 30th being National Ride Operator Appreciation Day, it is important to remember those individuals often behind the scenes that keep our parks safe and operating correctly. No doubt there’s a bigger story here, so if you have more information about Ricky C. Robinson, please let us know.
