Wild Adventures is several types of family entertainment combined into one that is equal parts theme park, water park, concert venue, zoo and nature center. The Alapaha Trail is a large section of elevated boardwalk through authentic Georgia swampland. For the 2026 season the trail has more than doubled in size with a large section closed for over a decade reopened. The entire trail has been refreshed with more than 6,000 board feet of new wood. The Alapaha Trail is a peaceful, shaded boardwalk that provides a nice break from the neighboring rides with the opportunity to see several of the park’s animals along the way.

Visiting the new addition for the first time in 2026 was stunning and was like a new playground for park regulars like us. There are beautiful picture spots and some areas where you can just hang out and relax. Everything you loved about it before is still there too like Mr. Twister (the park’s 40-year-old, 14 foot and 1,000 pound Gator that lives near the Swamp Thing roller coaster) it’s just more and better. The Alapaha Trial is also used during the holidays for immersive experiences during Great Pumpkin LumiNights and Christmas Wild & Bright, so my mind is already wondering what this will be like for 2026. The trail is probably the pinnacle of the holiday decorations at Wild Adventures each year with stunning 360 degree light displays and music.

This year marks 30 years of Wild Adventures and it’s great to see them making the Alapaha Trail better than ever before. The Alapaha Trail is something that sets Wild Adventures apart from most other theme parks and they quite literally doubled down on it for 2026. This, along with the other improvements for the 2026 season, are long term investments Wild Adventures is making in its future. Of all the updates for 2026 this is probably the most obvious, as most people won’t notice new magnetic brakes on Boomerang, an extra ride vehicle on Safari Train and Island Falls. These additions are not necessarily flashy, but they will certainly lead to increased guest satisfaction, especially for families.
