Review of EXPEDITION: BIGFOOT! The Sasquatch Museum in Blue Ridge, Georgia

EXPEDITION: BIGFOOT! The Sasquatch Museum in Blue Ridge, Georgia is the World’s largest Bigfoot museum. The attraction is 3,700 square feet of self-guided exploration of Sasquatch footprint casts, historical artifacts, life-size replicas and interactive displays. Visitors will also discover the lore, culture and ongoing research surrounding Bigfoot. The museum strikes a good balance of attempting to present science while simultaneously not taking itself too seriously. This museum isn’t especially large, but priced at only $9 for adults and $6 for kids you’ll easily get 45 minutes of entertainment and possibly more if you want to do a deep dive into all the information here.

So what type of things will you find at a EXPEDITION: BIGFOOT? You’ll see tons of artifacts, videos and replicas presented at museum quality. This will include not just recent purported sightings, but centuries of history across states and continents where “Bigfoot” is sometimes called “Yeti”, “Sasquatch”, “Rugaru” or “Skunk Ape”. There is a wealth of video content you could spend hours watching, but most people will concentrate on the artifacts and there certainly are some interesting ones. There are bones, footprint castings, hair and even a specimen claimed to be Bigfoot feces. Every kid in your group will love seeing a 36” Bigfoot poop in a glass case!

The gift shop here is an attraction in itself. The crazy array of humorous Bigfoot merchandise is quite something. You’ll also find merchandise related to other cryptids from North America like Mothman. It’s like there’s a cryptid network as there are even brochures for similar museums like the Mothman Museum all the way in West Virginia.

Does Bigfoot exist? If you’re from Georgia you’ll enjoy looking at the state map of sightings to see how close to your home one of your neighbors claimed to have had an encounter as much of the “proof” is from witness statements as opposed to physical evidence. I can’t say I saw, read or heard anything in the museum that was definitive proof of Bigfoot’s existence, but it certainly makes for fun conversation. I like the museum’s approach to the question of “Does Bigfoot exist?” on their FAQ page:

We at Expedition Bigfoot believe in the existence of Bigfoot/Sasquatch either from personal experience and encounters or from witness testimony and evidence. Our museum provides a lot of that evidence, and leaves the question of Bigfoot’s existence up to you. So whether you’re a skeptic, believer or “knower”, all are welcome.

EXPEDITION: BIGFOOT! The Sasquatch Museum is thought provoking and a bunch of fun. If you come in with either an open mind or just wanting to be entertained you won’t be disappointed. The museum displays likely won’t change your opinion one way or the other about if Bigfoot exists, but it will spark conversations. This was especially true with our 9 year old as we had great conversations on the drive home about proof and evidence. Entertainment that catalyzes conversations is somewhat rare these days and that’s what I appreciated most about EXPEDITION: BIGFOOT! If you’re in North Georgia near Blue Ridge, be sure to EXPEDITION: BIGFOOT! The Sasquatch Museum and decide for yourself if Bigfoot is real.
