Is a New Indoor Roller Coaster Coming to Kentucky Kingdom?

Kentucky Kingdom has released teasers on social media for a new ride announcement coming soon. It appears to be a horse racing theme, which makes sense with the park’s geographical proximity to the Kentucky Derby. The video appears to show a glimpse of wood track and he story also seems to involve a night race and includes the teaser “when the clock strikes midnight”, which would work well indoors. The rumor is an indoor wooden roller coaster built by The Gravity Group who worked with the park previously on the Kentucky Flyer coaster at the park. A Kentucky Derby themed ride has long been rumored and this is probably it.

The ride appears headed for the building that housed the 5D Cinema which last operated at the end of 2025 and construction inside is reportedly underway. The park may be treating this as an indoor blank canvas for a new attraction in a similar manner to DarKoaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Rumors say they expect to be able to fit 1,130 feet of track in the building and if they use screens and special effects like on DarKoaster they may be able to do a second lap and make it feel like a contiguous story. Rumors point to 11 airtime moments and a top speed of roughly 32 miles per hour.

This will potentially mark the second consecutive year of Kentucky Kingdom getting a new roller coaster with the debut of Flying Fox earlier this year. We know Herschend is investing big time in the park and it’s surely showing. It also gives the park a much needed indoor attraction or at least a swap of a motion simulator 4D theater for a ride. No doubt we’ll learn more soon and it will be exciting to hear the details.
