Many fans spotted Victor Wembanyama (Wemby) and several Spurs teammates including Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle visiting Six Flags Fiesta Texas last Sunday for Fright Fest. In comments to reporters Monday Wembanyama, who is 7’4″, said he was unable to join his teammates on rides at Six Flags last weekend. “I can’t do it safely, so I’d rather not do it,” Wembanyama said “I didn’t pass the height requirement.” You can see the interchange in the Spurs Nation post below:
We often talk about height minimums on rides as it relates to kids, but height maximums are a thing as well with many rides clearly posting one. This can be especially important with things like suspended or inverted coasters providing appropriate clearances. I’m only 6’2″ and I occasionally find a coaster car tough to fit into with long legs, so I can only imagine what an extra 14 inches would do. Things like dark rides are probably a bit more forgiving than roller coasters too. However, it’s great to see the team getting some bonding time off the court and Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a spectacular park as well.

Hopefully Wemby can find some rides to enjoy somewhere. in the NBA the Lopez brothers are famous for their love of Disney and they are both 7’1″. They were also spotted at the Epic Universe opening party. Evidently they can get on everything major in the Disney universe according to an interview earlier this year with KTLA 5. “There’s only one Disney attraction in the world now that we can’t go on because we’re too tall,” he explained to Ping. “Raging Spirits at Tokyo Disney Resort and Tokyo DisneySea. It’s a roller coaster. We’re too tall to go on by a long shot. Not even close.” So perhaps Wemby should head to Disney (maybe after an NBA championship?) to take in some rides there.
