Will Enchanted Parks Retheme Their Children’s Areas to Timbertown After Losing Looney Toons and Peanuts?

Earlier this year Six Flags sold several parks which are now under the management of Enchanted Parks. 2026 is a year of transition with many of them still using Six Flags names and branding while also honoring Six Flags season passes. However, this is expected to change as soon as the 2027 season as the parks will likely lose the ability to continue to use the 3rd party IP which Six Flags has licensed. This means Enchanted Parks will need to retheme their DC, Looney Toons and Peanuts rides and areas. For this article we’ll concentrate specifically on the children’s area where the legacy Six Flags parks have Looney Toons and the legacy Cedar Fair parks have Peanuts (Snoopy). This type of transition is actually somewhat common, for example SeaWorld San Antonio recently converted their Sesame Street area over to a SeaWorld Rescue Jr. theme. So it’s really not a question of if/how they’ll make the change, but more a question of what will they change to and when?

Six Flags Theme Parks Sold and Current IP

  • Worlds of Fun: Planet Snoopy
  • Valleyfair: Planet Snoopy
  • Michigan’s Adventure: Camp Snoopy
  • Mid America Adventure: Bugs Bunny National Park
  • Great Escape: Timbertown
  • La Ronde: Le Pays de Ribambelle

Of all the potential IP choices the one that seems most likely is “Timbertown” similar to that already used at Great Escape. Timbertown opened in 2011 and replaced the former Looney Tunes National Park area and features a North American wilderness and logging theme with a cast of unique characters. They include Bucky the Beaver, Frankie the Fox, Oakley the Bear, Ranger Randy, Rocky the Raccoon, Sheldon the Turtle and Spruce the Moose. The “Timbertown” IP was transferred to Enchanted Parks from Six Flags as part of the sale, so it’s free for them to use.

The Snoopy area at Michigan’s Adventure already has a camp theme associated with it and Mid America (formerly Six Flags St. Louis) has a national park vibe. Converting either of these over to Timbertown would be quite easy as it was already done at Great Escape in 2011. Remove Snoopy or Bugs Bunny, then add back a Spruce the Moose and you’re basically there. Transitioning Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair from Planet Snoopy to a nature vibe could be a tad more involved, but could probably be done relatively easily. Le Pays de Ribambelle is a proprietary theme that is a whimsical, fairy-tale village environment which was included in the sale of La Ronde. Note that La Ronde is not actually managed by Enchanted Parks, but is owned by the same parent company EPR Properties and thus that unique IP will likely stay.

Enchanted Parks has a chance to breath some new life into some of the parks that were somewhat forgotten by Six Flags with regard to getting new rides and attractions. Seeing these kids areas get a refresh could actually be a good thing. It’ll be interesting to see if Enchanted Parks uses the IP it already owns like Timbertown or tries to license another 3rd party IP. I found Timbertown at Great Escape to be more than serviceable and quite fun, so if they go that way I think it will be well received.
