The Blue Ghost Arcade is located in Woodstock, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta. Their motto is, “Connecting an old generation of games with a new generation of players” and that couldn’t be more true. The Blue Ghost Arcade is a retro arcade featuring classic 80s/90s video games, pinball, consoles and board games. There’s a full bar, but it’s also totally kid friendly. The arcade uses a “pay-one-price” model with daily passes for unlimited free play on all games and complimentary popcorn. This is a great place to have a nostalgic video game experience with decor that matches down to a wall made completely of old VHS tapes! This is a review from a theme park fan of all the fun you can have at the Blue Ghost.

So one of the most important things about an arcade are its selection of games. The Blue Ghost has a great mix stretching multiple decades and genres. You’ll find classics like Frogger, Dig Dug and Asteroids, sports classics like NFL Blitz and Golden Tee, quarter eaters like TMNT and Simpsons, fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter and racing games like Outrun and Hydro Thunder. There’s also a huge assortment of pinball games. If you want to find a complete list of games in this or any other category they’re all on the Blue Ghost website.

Blue Ghost also has several lounge areas with video game consoles where you can challenge your friends to a game of Mario Kart or Madden. You’ll have hundreds of games to choose from across NES, SNES, Dreamcast, Genesis, N64, PlayStation, XBox and Switch. If you want to play it, there’s a good chance they have it. These are comfortable couches giving a living room feel.

The bar at Blue Ghost is sincerely great. You’ll find lots of craft beer on tap (including local options) as well as mixed drinks. The beer tap handles are amazing too being old video game controllers. There are TV’s as well that either show gaming or big sporting events. A beverage also pairs well with the free popcorn.

As you approach Blue Ghost be aware it doesn’t look like much from the road. It’s in a pretty nondescript strip mall currently undergoing renovations. However, once you walk in it’s a different story. There is more than ample free parking though and you’ll get a wristband so you can come and go should you want to get a meal at one of the abundant nearby options. Standard admission is $18 for a whole day, but seniors get in for $15 and under 5 is free. They also have great specials like free admission for teachers on Fridays or free admission for bartenders, servers and industry workers on Wednesdays.

If video games aren’t your thing, Blue Ghost still has you covered. No matter if you like Catan, checkers, chess or card games, there are dozens of games to choose from. You’ll find D&D groups, chess tournaments, trivia and lots of other events to attend. If that’s your thing, they also offer monthly passes should you live in the area and want to visit frequently.

So this is primarily a theme park blog, but vintage video games and theme parks seem to trend together. I guess that’s why the family entertainment center is a thing. If you come to Atlanta to go to Six Flags Over Georgia you may want to stop by the Blue Ghost as it’s located only about 30 minutes way. Blue Ghost is open everyday until at least midnight (except Sunday), so it could even be a stop after a day at the park. This place was universally loved by our group including my wife, 10 year old son and even his 82 year old grandmother.
