Update July 2026: Tormenta is now scheduled to open July 9th and is currently running member previews and technical rehearsals!
Update June 22, 2026: According to the Six Flags Over Texas social media, Tormenta has been delayed from the original June 26th date. First news of the delay started with the postponing of media day for June 25th. The commissioning and testing process is taking longer than expected and the park wants everything perfect for opening.

Tormenta Rampaging Run at Six Flags Over Texas, the highly anticipated and first Giga Dive coaster by B&M, is scheduled to open June 26, 2026. Tormenta Rampaging Run will be the tallest, fastest, longest, first-and only giga dive coaster in the world! This coaster has a huge 285-foot first drop from a height of 309 feet, but what’s even more astounding are the inversions. It has the highest Immelmann Inversion at 218 feet and the tallest Vertical Coaster Loop at 179 feet. This means the Immelmann is significantly higher than the first drop on Sheikra at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay or most hyper coasters!

Tormenta is probably the most anticipated roller coaster of 2026. It is rumored to cost nearly $50 million and represents a significant investment for Six Flags, The ride will feature the world’s tallest Immelmann inversion at 218 feet and the tallest vertical roller coaster loop at 179 feet. Previous record holders were the 187 foot Immelmann on Yukon Striker and several coasters including Full Throttle at Magic Mountain have 160 foot vertical loops. It’s an interesting debate about inversions with less traditional inversion types like the 240 foot inverted top hat on Spitfire at Six Flags Qidfiya City and the 197 foot “dive drop” on Steel Curtain at Kennywood also in the record talks. The inversions on Tormenta are massive though, with the Immelmann taller than fellow B&M diver coaster SheiKra at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay or iconic hyper coasters like Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia. Also, none of this is meant to ignore the 309 foot total height!
Tormenta Rampaging Run at Six Flags Over Texas touts Six World Records:
- Tallest Dive Coaster: 309 ft
- Highest 95 Degree Beyond Vertical Drop: 285 ft
- Fastest Dive Coaster: 87 mph
- Highest Immelmann Inversion: 218 ft
- Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: 179 ft
- Longest Dive Coaster: 4,199 ft
Tormenta Rampaging Run is a big deal, both literally and metaphorically, for Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation and the roller coaster community. There was a time decades ago when Six Flags seemed to chase world records, but that season appeared to be over. However, with Tormenta they are back at it with 6 World Records. Family coasters are the big thing now as they hit an important financial demographic for parks, but World records are great for marketing. No doubt coaster fans from across the country and world will travel to ride this coaster, but will it move the needle in the Dallas area too in terms of overall attendance? I guess time will tell, but congrats to B&M, Six Flags and Six Flags Over Texas, Tormenta Rampaging Run looks like one amazing roller coaster!
