The Six Fags and Cedar Fair merger is expected to finalize today July 1, 2024. The last major hurdle was passed last week with regulatory approval. The new combined company will be known Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, trade under the ticker symbol “FUN” on the NYSE starting July 2nd and be based out of Charlotte.

What other changes can you expect tomorrow? Probably not much. The biggest change will be for employees in terms of the name on their check, insurance policies, rules/regulations and the such.

With regard to a combined season pass, the year is halfway over, so probably nothing new coming there until 2025. However the company has already alluded to a combined pass in investor updates, so we know it’s coming in some form!

It’s a brand new day on a brand new theme park landscape. People made “Cedar Flags” jokes for years and now it’s actually here. Let’s hope for the a combination of the best of both chains with more choice, investment and value for park guests.
