The Christmas Coaster

The Christmas Coaster

The station hums with festive cheer, The grandest ride of all the year! The tracks are iced in silver light, A ribbon through the frozen night. With wreaths upon the velvet cars, We’re climbing upward toward the stars.

Click-clack, click-clack, the chain starts slow, Above the dusting of the snow. The pine trees blink with red and green, The tallest hill you’ve ever seen. We reach the peak, the air is still, A frosted breath, a winter thrill.

Then whoosh! We fly on reindeer wings, While every rail and girder sings. Through loops that look like candy canes, We’re shaking off the winter reins. A blur of tinsel, gold and bright, A comet streaking through the night!

The wind is nipping at our nose, As down the corkscrew spiral goes. Past gingerbread and glowing bells, And magic only Christmas tells. A final turn, a snowy spray, A breathless dash on Santa’s sleigh.

We glide back home to golden light, Into the warmth of Christmas night. With pounding hearts and joyful eyes, Beneath the sparkling, winter skies. The ride is done, the bells all chime— Let’s go again one more time!
