Dollywood has released new details about its much anticipated 2026 attraction. We now know it’s called “NightFlight Expedition” and it is a groundbreaking hybrid coaster and whitewater river ride. Riders will board vehicles capable of four thrilling experiences in a first-of-its-kind attraction. Guests will guests soar above the Great Smoky Mountains, plunge into whitewater rapids, float down drops and navigate to a “very special lake.” NightFlight Expedition is featured in an astounding indoor, weather-independent 160,000 square foot facility (that’s larger than four football fields!) in the Wildwood Grove area of the park.
Embarking on a daring journey aboard remarkable vehicles, adventurers will experience four thrilling experiences in a first-of-its-kind attraction as they fly through the Smokies, conquer raging rapids, climb mountain peaks and glide across a shimmering lake. Follow the roots and light the way!

There are still many details to discover about this ride, but the park has released the basic specs below.
- Track Length of 1255 ft (nearly a quarter of a mile)
- Maximum Speed of 29 MPH
- Ride Duration of 5.5 Minutes (including loading and unloading)
- Nearly 3 Stories High at Highest Track Elevation
- 10 Passengers Per Car
- Minimum Height Requirement of 39 in.
This is a pretty massive dark ride and coaster combination that seems to be Dollywood’s answer to something like Rise of the Resistance. The ride is to be manufactured by Mack Rides, who is the manufacturer of the Atlantis ride at SeaWorld Orlando. Perhaps we are looking at something similar here, but greatly enhanced to include some flying effects and completely indoors with the new Mack “rocking boat” technology? Only time will tell, but NightFlight Expedition definitely looks very exciting!
