Fun Spot America Atlanta in Fayetteville, Georgia has opened its new “Hook & Slice” ride. The exciting new attraction, a Mini Reverse Time ride by SBF-Visa Group, delivers high-energy fun and excitement for riders with great visuals for spectators. The ride officially opened on February 1, 2025 and we had the opportunity to ride on February 21st which was a beautiful spring day in Georgia. Our bottom line review, “Hook & Slice” may not be a physically large ride, but it packs a ton of fun in a small footprint.
“The golf-themed Hook & Slice ride combines spins and twists with high-flying action. Guests will soar as the ride rotates in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, as its mechanical arm elevating the excitement to new heights.”

The ride experience is quite unique in that it starts with just a simple rotation that then transitions to almost a scrambler-like motion across the ride platform. The ride then begins to lift and tilt, with the greatest tilt being massive, maybe 75 degrees. However, the “high” side of the ride doesn’t stay in the same place and also rotates around. This wave-like motion gives a much more unpredictable sensation compared to something like a Paratrooper ride. Just as you get used to this motion, the ride while still tilted will slow to a stop and then quickly reverse its direction of rotation. This reversing of rotation is easily the most exciting and best moment of the ride. After rotating in reverse for a bit it then does the whole tilt process in reverse, eventually lowering you back down to the platform.
This ride is very well designed and more visually intimidating that guy wrenching. I was a tad worried about my first ride on “Hook & Slice” (as spinning rides sometimes test my stomach), but I’m a grown man and I found myself giggling with joy through the whole experience. It felt like the perfect intensity ride as it is enough to be exciting, but not too much to make the general public ill. This ride really has a simple one word description, fun. You see where it gets its name as it seems like you’re riding on a spinning golf ball, first hooking and then slicing. The ride uses coaster style over-the-shoulder harness restraints which are comfortable and probably necessary given the extreme tilt.

“Hook & Slice” is positioned near the front of the park and as its mechanical arm lifts it up into a tilt you can see it from most anywhere. We rode during the day, but there were lights all over it and I hear it looks great in the evening. It really fits perfectly into the park and is a bit of an upgrade and spiritual successor to the park’s former Paratrooper ride. A “Mini Reverse Time” flat ride is also somewhat unique in that it’s not nearly as common as a scrambler, tilt-a-while or Himalaya type ride that you see everywhere.

This ride also fits quite well in the Atlanta, Georgia area given its golf heritage. There’s of course the annual Masters tournament in nearby Augusta as well as several other PGA events. No doubt the park could do a promotion or two surrounding one or more of these golf events. During our visit we also discovered that many of the staff of Fun Spot America Atlanta are big golf fans and are very happy to have a golf themed ride. A ride has to fit the personality of the park along with the thrill tolerance of its clientele and “Hook & Slice” accomplishes both of these for Fun Spot America Atlanta. You may head to Fayetteville, GA to ride ArieForce One, but be sure to give “Hook & Slice” a ride while you’re there too.
