An article caught my eye about a house within walking distance of Disneyland for under $1 million. One of the complications of a visit to many parks is dealing with the travel, traffic and parking to get to the front gate and back home at the end of the day. Sometimes walking to a park is possible if there is a resort hotel on property, but this would be like having this convenience permanently. The house sold in October, but it had me thinking what it would be like to live so close to a theme park.

No doubt there are a bunch of theme parks that people can walk from home to visit, however living near Disney is different. I was shocked given the fan base and California real estate values that anything more than a shack on a postage stamp sized lot could be had in that location for under $1 million. If you look at Zillow it’s actually a pretty nice place at over 1,200 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Because of copyright I won’t post the realtor images here, but it’s sincerely a nice place. It has Disney Lover’s dream house or high priced Airbnb written all over it. The house is now off the market, but what a thought of living walking distance to Disney!

We’ve written in the past about how there are houses within easy walking distance of Busch Gardens Tampa due to the park being in an urban area. Disneyland is similar in this regard. The story goes that Walt “corrected” this error with Walt Disney World by buying a large area of land to assure the urban landscape wouldn’t encroach on his next park. Part of a theme park is immersion where you become unaware of the surrounding world and this can be harder to do with noise/distraction from close neighbors or undesirable sight lines. From the home owners perspective there’s traffic as well as noise to be considered as many rides can be heard from quite a difference. However, this may soon learned to be ignored like living by train tracks or a busy road.
It would be fun to talk to someone who lives near a theme park to hear what it’s really like. If this is you please reach out and tell us about your experience. Is it a dream or are there too many downsides?
