It’s fall and as the weather turns cooler and the trees begin to change it also means it’s time for spooky season at our favorite theme parks. It seems like every park has a Halloween or fall event now, but one of the originals is Fright Fest by Six Flags with the park celebrating its 30th anniversary of the event in 2024. This year Six Flags Over Georgia is essentially operating 3 events simultaneously with Fright Fest, Kid’s Boo Fest and Oktoberfest all happening together in September and October. One of the biggest draws of these events are the haunted mazes with their unique stories/themes and this year Six Flags Over Georgia landed some great IP with houses themed to Netflix’s Stranger Things and the Saw movie franchise!

Fright Fest is an event that essentially takes over the park with its theming. There are numerous 6 “scare zones” that are included with admission along with 4 shows. There are 5 premium haunted mazes including Saw 20, Stranger Things, Camp Slasher, Nyctophobia and Carnival of Chaos. The Six Flags website has tons of details about everything. The Saw maze definitely sounds like it could be a frightening one with its recreation of many of the movie’s frightening contraptions. It also makes me feel old with the Saw franchise celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. No matter your favorite haunt you’ll find it here from creatures to aliens to vampires to slashers to post-apocalyptic nightmare!
Happening concurrently is Kid’s Boo Fest which is more of a daytime event. This year’s event features an inflatable corn maze, arts and crafts, dance parties and costume contests. All Kids Boo Fest activities are included with park admission and will take place in the right half of the park from Twisted Cyclone to Monster Mansion. Keeping Boo Fest separate from the scarier Fright Fest offerings is a great thing for families that still want to enjoy the park this season. I’m especially excited about the new Monster Mansion Fun Zone where you can play games, make crafts and meet the Monster Mansion characters!

Finally there’s the Oktoberfest event which gives guests the chance to savor a unique menu of seasonal brews and German inspired cuisine while taking in unique live entertainment. Oktoberfest kicks off each festival day with a parade and keg tapping ceremony. Additional entertainment will include strolling Kobald tricksters who play practical jokes amongst the crowd and the Alpine Horn Comedy Concert. Notable menu items offered during the festival include,a spicy chicken schnitzel sandwich and German pot roast pretzel sandwich, German chocolate funnel cake, German potato salad and more. The beers here also look great and include some authentic German beers like Warsteiner Dunkel ad Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen as well as some local craft favorites like Wild Leap Oktoberfest.

Happening several weeks ago for one week only was the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice drone show sponsored by Fanta. The video below is from Freaks of Halloween Horror Nights showing the event at Six Flags Over Georgia. The show is a mix of Six Flags art, Fanta art and artwork advertising the new Beetlejuice movie. It appears that Six Flags is moving the drones around to other parks as it is advertised for other Six Flags locations on other weekends.
Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia is open for an expanded 23 select nights starting September 14 through November 3. In addition Kids Boo Fest and an Oktoberfest will operate weekends, September 14 through November 3. The park also has great deals on 2025 season passes where you can head to these events for under $60 and get all of the 2025 season for free including the upcoming Georgia Surfer coaster! If you love Halloween you need to check this out as there’s so much to do here that it’ll probably take you several visits to experience it all.
