I visited Six Flags Over Georgia on Saturday, May 18, 2024 and was able to check out the construction progress on the new Georgia Surfer coaster by Intamin. It was surprising to see a flurry of activity on a weekend day, so they must be pushing hard to get this done. There were now retaining walls in place, concrete footers poured, the beginning of what appeared to be a water retention area. No track or supports were seen anywhere, but I can’t imagine we’re far away from seeing the installation of the first few pieces.

It was also great to see the new entrance plaza taking shape which is essentially the old entrance plaza for Splashwater Falls. The park had a fair amount of banners and signage announcing the ride and even released a construction update video on their Instagram. A new rendering on this signage really gives a good idea of what to expect from the water features and how the coaster will fit within the plot of land.

Georgia Surfer looks like one of the more unique coaster openings for all of 2025! It will also give SFOG a much needed launch coaster (which it has lacked since Viper) and its first spinning coaster. t’s exciting to see the construction and I can’t wait for this to open!
