Review of the Beautiful New “Along the Rails Tavern” at Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags Over Georgia has opened a new food and beverage location called Along the Rails Tavern. It’s described by the park as, “a relaxing outdoor patio located near the picturesque Marthasville Railroad Station”, they couldn’t be more right. With beautiful wood decking, great shade from the surrounding trees, a diverse drink selection and somewhat hidden location, this place is a real gem for the park. It also screams “hold your private event here” for things like corporate gatherings or coaster groups visiting the park. Something like a new bar doesn’t get the buzz of a new coaster, but wow what a great addition for the park!

New bar locations are being added to the park, including Along the Rails Tavern, a relaxing outdoor patio located near the picturesque Marthasville Railroad Station…

Along the Rails Tavern is glorious with beautiful wood decking and a wooden bar. It fits perfectly among the trees along the train tracks. The tavern has a small, but diverse selection of drinks including several local options. On tap you’ll find Michelob Ultra, Haze & Blaze IPA from Atlanta’s own Fire Maker craft brewery, Atlanta Hard Cider, a RTD peach grapefruit craft cocktail from Wild Leap and a tropical sangria. The tavern advertises four signature cocktails all with a railroad theme like “The Texas” (one of the park’s train engines and a famous Atlanta train) all the way to “The Caboose”. Each one is quite unique from the others and is a a mix of booze and fruity goodness. In addition, there a fridge with a bunch of cans of other beers, spiked lemonade and other canned beverages. It’s also advertised as “full bar” on the app, so I imagine they can make just about anything.

This past Saturday I had the most pleasant surprise in my walk around Six Flags Over Georgia. After passing by Twisted Cyclone and on our way to the VIP lounge area to get some of our Diamond pass holder benefits there was a sign pointing behind the VIP building to a new tavern? I followed the sign and wandered down a short path to find a simply gorgeous outdoor bar! It was a slow day at the park with some threatening weather and the “Brews & Bites” festival was going on, but there was still a decent crowd hanging out.

I was surprised that I totally missed any press or social media about the new tavern. Going back I found one sentence about it towards the end of a press release from February about the park’s March 2nd opening for its 57th season, but one line really underplays this cool new addition. The same press release also mentions a “Munchopolis Beverages, which offers cold beers and tantalizing moonshine cocktails” which I also totally missed (both in the press release and in person on Saturday) and will now have to seek out on my next visit. I can see Along the Rails doing very well for the park. It’s a beautiful location in the shade and I could see lots of parents passing the time there with a cold beverage while kids rode Acrophobia or Twisted Cyclone. Great job Six Flags Over Georgia on a welcome new addition!
